Valamar Argosy Hotel: Everything you Should know, Dubrovnik Croatia

The Valamar Argosy Hotel in Dubrovnik
Croatia takes pretty much all the boxes from the stunning views to the hearty
breakfast and the super convenience of traveling to and from the old town but
more on that later here is everything you should know about staying at the
Valomar Argosy Hotel the hotel. The hotel is situated a couple of miles from the
hustle and bustle of Dubrovnik’s main tourist attraction the old town and
about a 50 minute taxi drive from the airport. Overlooking the Adriatic Sea the
hotel sits on a peninsula which allows amazing panoramic views and is perfectly
positioned for some stunning sunsets. We were there three nights and had a
picture postcard viewing every single time. As you would expect the swimming
pool overlooks this view. Technically it is an infinity pool but don’t be fooled
completely by the brochure shots as there is quite a bit of land between the
pool edge and the sea so it’s not quite the fantasy you might expect. It is
relatively small however during the peak season in July and August when we were
there it still never felt too full. If you arrived in the afternoon to top of
your tan the selection of places to lay are in short supply but we always found
somewhere in the end. With the mercury hitting 34 degrees in
summer the loungers each have a handy face guard to protect your money maker.
Overall a beautiful location to relax and soak up the Sun. The interior of the
hotel itself is nudging a little towards the corporate side but it is still
comfortable nevertheless all staff were friendly with reception being efficient
and there is a cash machine inside too if you ever have an emergency purchase.
And you’re never too far away from that view. A little tip is to purchase your
tickets for the local bus in the hotel shop it’s easier and cheaper than buying
when you are out and about. Within walking distance there is enough to do
if you don’t want to move too far away from base camp. A 5-minute walk and there is a very small line of shops and restaurants.
Another tip would be to take advantage of the mini market in this area which
sells cheaper water than the hotel along with some basic snacks. If you wanted to
splash out I would highly recommend the Coral Beach Club and Copacabana beach
both located a nice short walk down the mountain to the seashore both are very
trendy places and work similarly. You can sunbathe in luxury for a small fee of
course renting one of the nicer loungers on offer. You can order some amazing
cocktails and just watch the Sun drop occasionally taking a nice dip in the
cool sea to keep your heart from permanently stopping from sunstroke. At
the Copacabana we stopped for a great lunch having some of the best fish I’d
ever had and even booked a massage on the way home as the stress was all too
much by this point I would definitely recommend the Coral
Beach Club for dinner; Nice relaxing music, the sea lapping up
to the stones and again that view turning to dusk. Breakfast is awesome at
Valamar Argosy Hotel. It’s served in buffet style and has pretty much
everything you could ever want. Loads of choices for bread, (long dramatic pauses
here people) croissants, pancakes, fruits, of all kinds, sausages, and bacon. Eggs in
pretty much any way you want them. Loads of cheeses and hams and would you
believe it they have placed the dining area overlooking the Adriatic Sea: Clever
people! The rooms do the job. They were clean, tidied up every day, the toilet
flushed, the shower sprayed, the bed was comfy, what else do you need?! We opted for
the side see view and although we have read some reviews where this didn’t
offer much of a sea view for us we got a good look at the ocean which suited us
great for the morning and those sunsets. We had to ask for a kettle however which
we thought was odd and as usual the powdered milk isn’t the best but “hey ho”,
that’s what you get for being English I guess! Ordinarily I prefer staying in the
heart of a city but this hotel couldn’t be better situated.
It’s it’s two minutes from the start of the local number six bus route so you
always get a seat and the Old Town is the last stop so you will never lose
your way. We didn’t wait for more than five minutes for a bus and it’s only
about a 15 minute journey give or take with the traffic. The Old
Town is what makes Dubrovnik one of my favorite cities in Europe. I will be
adding another video going into more depth about this small yet amazing place;
Everything from the walls of dubrovnik the cable car the amazing food we had
there pause again for lots of food shots The culture and many many shops this is
the place to head when you arrive and despite its apparent distance from here
the location of the Argosy hotel makes it super simple to easily enjoy and
hopefully at a price that’s a little less than if you are situated right in
the city center. Overall I can’t recommend the Valamr Argosy Hotel
enough; the view is to die for whether that be over breakfast or over dinner
in the evening the food itself could not offer more of a selection and the hotel
is both surrounded by some cool options nearby but also simple access to
Dubrovnik’s main attractions a must stay.
