June 5, 2017 Reply Ligeane Maran obrigado pela legenda em Português, me ajudando muito seus vídeos com as legendas, parabéns pelo trabalho June 15, 2017 Reply Ivelin Ivanov Wow, what a great video. Love your channel, Doug. I found it couple days ago and have been glued to youtube watching ever since. I really appreciate you doing these poker educational videos and giving us the chance to learn from a 2 time bracelet winner and great poker player like you. I used to play poker for a living grinding the 25NL games back in the good old easy days about 5-6 years ago, but quit when the games got tougher. I was doing some of the mistakes you mentioned but your videos are giving me a new perspective and re-ignited my passion for poker. Now I just want to play to improve and become better and not be affected by variance – whether negative or positive. I just love how unaffected you are when bad beats happen in your stream 🙂 And I also love your funny, excited reactions when you win a big pot agains someone haha. And I can tell you're not overly emotional, you're just doing it for the entertainment. Now I wanna be unaffected when i play – just like you 🙂 Every once in a while I do a $10 to $100 challenge crushing the $2NL zoom games 😀 and I cash out and give up but this time I will try to work on my game and see if I can move up the stakes and win at higher levels and perhaps go to $1000 and beyond. Since 1981. Certainly the best record compared to everyone, esp since durr and isuldur are both broke and have zero tournament results. I'd say non of the super young guns of 2005 are around anymore either. The REAL truth is a TINY percentage of players win the "lottery" of poker and afterwards are able to coast, but 99% of the players are losing players. You can listen to all these coaching tips all you want, success is best achieved through a real life passion…your own business, art, creativity…anything OTHER than poker June 29, 2017 Reply Boaz Smith I'd say your worst trait is your ego. There are similarities between MTG and NL Hold Em. They are both skill based and deal with hidden information. I have worked really hard to become a pretty good MTG player, I would say Poker came rather naturally to me, it didn't take long for me to "get it". Now I just have to work on my game and grow. Intelligence does play a small factor but anyone can play the game, it's how they develop their skills and if they have a drive to get better. July 1, 2017 Reply brett taylor Doug is a good dude. But i started with watching him on high stakes poker. Just lobbing bricks of money in. Hes made it big time in my book. Never worked a day just gambled. Poker is a marathon, not a sprint. March 3, 2018 Reply Ashfaq Sheikh The so-called monster hands like AA, KK, AK, and AQ etc do not mean anything. You can be holding pocket AA but can be beat by JJJ, 888, a flush or a straight after the flop. Don't gamble. Don't go all-in with high pocket cards. Look at the flop first. March 3, 2018 Reply TheLandOfTears s Here is one thing and one thing only, all professionals who are reading this can relate to it. It's the pain of loss that makes a great player. All experienced poker players have went through severe losses in the beginning that made them question their way of playing, those losses forced them to become better or keep on losing. But, that's only if he's willing to learn from his mistakes. June 4, 2018 Reply Tony Reyes Hi Doug, Im following you for a few years, and recently, since I moved to Vietnam I'm almost always make it to the finale table at the local poker club. The daily tournaments have about 150 / 200 players, took me a few weeks to adapt to their style but now, I grind it nicely to the end, and even managed to win 3 times. My problem is though, some times I make some stupid herocalls with Ace highs, or pushes with pocket 8's at final table against the chip leader opening 3bet and find myself behind. My question is, why do I do this to myself and how can I overcome those poor decision making moments? Massive respect for your work and all the best from Vietnam,Tony June 5, 2018 Reply Dean Benson Doug. Nice vid. But open your eyes dude when your talking ….. 😉 June 18, 2018 Reply PaterTenebrarum1 Discipline is needed in all areas of life, not just in poker.
