I am watching Vice Ukraine coverage one by one now.. here many say "thanks vice for real news" but what is real actually? Vice showing actual videos with his point of view. Any brave reporter or freelance journalist can do that, even one of Ukraine people/protester but he will report with his view. So this is big mess and cant judge with that particular situation.

We already know that most of E.Ukraine people does not like current govt with US support for everything.

Simon Ostrovsky is prejudiced but he is a good reporter.  In other words, his work has helped me understand how dangerous the people holding power in Kiev are.

Terrorists who seized the building of the SBU, rob cash truck and shops, kidnap people in broad daylight on the streets, they storm military registration and enlistment office and military units, shooting under my windows, they forbade us to have our own opinion – it's all you support? They closed banks, where can we got a money now? If this is a freedom, I do not want it! Freedom to be a slave to people who had caught a power with weapons, and you feel an ecstatic? Since you may destroy your own democracy, who's stopping you?

It seems to me that the East of Ukraine has gathered all the criminal and extremist rabble from all the CIS, in support of, or as commonly called "cry for help", but he is the one whose cry? Perhaps Uncle Vova neighbor over the fence.

It is encouraging that a western journalist can speak Russian and can ask sensible questions.

The title should be more like "Defending the Whoreland". Right now, Ukraine is a country which promotes hate, oppression, nationalism and neo-nazism with the blessings of the US and EU. As it seems there is no international law or justice anymore. If the people want freedom and independence, let them have it. The west recognized the ukrainian maidan protestors who overthrew the elected government because it was corrupt, but when the eastern regions of the country did exactly the same thing, uprising against the current ultra-right junta, they called them terrorists, separatists and other shit. I’m really disgusted by this hypocrisy. The protestors have full rights to do what they are doing according to the ukrainian constitution and the UN universal declaration of human rights.

The eastern most part of the Ukraine, and they want a referendum on entry into Russia, but the sign is in English.  The government is worried about U.S. troops.  All I can say is whether people want it or not, we are becoming one Earth awfully fast!  We fear the impact of one another so much and so immediately, we communicate so well compared to just 100 orv 200 years ago.  The sooner we learn to get along, respect each other instead of fear each other, and all have autonomy within our own areas, the more likely we will survive to battle the things that threaten us all, like climate change, illness, hunger, need for clean air, fresh clean water, energy that meets demands and harms nothing and no one, etc.

Classic Russian tactics of getting people to fight with each over, send some army guys who only want a referendum, and then later offering to send troops to "maintain peace" in the area. They've done it so many times in so many countries, and people still can't see it.

just think something…. when albanians in Kosovo held a referendum inside an area of the legal government of Serbia for independency (and the referendum was called illegal by the government), the EU and the US backed the albanians and helped them creat a new state by recognizing it in a region that was for centuries serbian. On the other hand here when the pro russians held a referendum which was called illegal by an illegal central government (because of the illegal overthrow of Yanukovich) all the west world was stenchly against it despite the fact that this area was russian for centuries….
